As Chief Investment Officer, Sam oversees the development and execution of our investment strategies and leads our Investment Team. His responsibilities include overall investment strategy, research of investment trends and opportunities, oversight of our multi-manager platform, risk management, and strategic planning. Sam also serves as a senior advisor to clients. Prior to joining Diversified Trust, Sam served as a senior wealth management investment executive at Wilmington Trust where he led major business units and held the positions of Chief Investment Officer and President of Wilmington Trust Investment Advisors, Director of Research, and Chief Operating Officer-Investments. While at Wilmington Trust, Sam managed a large team of investment professionals with responsibility for approximately $35 billion in client assets under management. His career started with Arthur Andersen in the mid-1980s, and he subsequently served as a lead consultant with KPMG Investment Advisors advising high net-worth investors on topics such as charitable gifts, estate planning and tax planning.
Sam is a CFA charterholder and member of the CFA Society of Atlanta where he has served as a lead instructor of the CFA Review Course. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Sam is a trustee for the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and is a member of the Finance and Investment Committee. He has served as Chair of the Finance Council for the Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta as well as a member of the Investment Committee for the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta. Sam holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of Idaho. He also received a Master of Science in Finance from Georgia State University.
