- The news of the week was the Grand Old Party releasing the details of its new tax plan, a 429-page bill. While it is best to think about this plan as an opening bid, since there will certainly be a number of changes as the bill goes through markup and reconciliation, there are plenty of initial winners and losers based upon the main components of the plan.
- Google from time to time likes to put out pieces that outline some of the really interesting things they are doing. Current work on exaflop computing to solve things like carbon nanotubes for desalinization is absolutely fascinating and hints at the big changes mankind stands to experience in the not too distant future.
- President trump has begun his 10-day trip to Asia, which will include a very important meeting with President Xi Jinping of China. Time Magazine argues that the Chinese economy may be the most influential in the world over the next decade.
